Dr. Bob Posner is a registered, Virginia licensed physician that can provide medical certification for the Virginia Medical Cannabis Program. If you suffer from these conditions, you may be eligible for a Medical Written Certification today.
I have been practicing internal medicine for over 30 years and I have written hundreds of thousands of prescriptions for medications treating a vast array of primary care medical illnesses. I strongly believe that prescription pharmaceuticals can play a great role in helping people with their medical problems. However, there are certain conditions, such as chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety, fibromyalgia and others when the prescription medications either fail to help or cause side effects that are worse than the medical problems themselves.
I have always kept an open mind to alternative treatments/approaches to medical conditions that often are refractory to the standard medical treatments. With interest, I have been avidly learning lots of about the use of CBD and THC/CBD therapies (“Medical Marijuana”) to help with a number of medical conditions that I described above. There are many scientific studies showing the benefits of CBD/THC in treating a wide array of medical problems, most notably chronic pain, anxiety and insomnia.
Virginia enacted new laws recently allowing Virginia residents to obtain a “Medical Marijuana Card” and then use this card at a Virginia-approved Pharmaceutical Processor (Dispensary). There are 5 of these centers throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, with the closest regional one to our office being in Manassas. These facilities have skilled pharmacists onsite and they will work with each patient to decide what is the best product(s) to help the patient with the conditions they present with. The centers are due to open in late 2019.
The very first step in the process is obtaining “medical certification” and then, when presented to the Virginia Board of Pharmacy (online application) a “Medical Card” is issued within 7-10 days.
I have recently registered to be one of the very few licensed Virginia doctors to issue these medical certifications. If you are suffering from any of the conditions I mentioned, such as chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia or fibromyalgia, and your current treatments are not working well, please consider the use of CBD/THC (“medical marijuana”) as a potential treatment approach.
