Is It Time To Say Goodbye?

When we say the word “GOODBYE” this is a usual and customary expression upon parting from a family member, friend or business/work colleague.  However, today we are going to employ this word as this relates to parting from the many “things” that thwart our weight control efforts.  Some of these things include:

  • The nighttime/post-dinner snacks such as ice cream, popcorn and small candies
  • The daily or weekend “Happy Hours” that we conduct at home at which time we pop open the bottle of wine and kill the bottle during the evening
  • Trying to save time by purchasing microwavable dinners from the frozen section of the supermarket
  • Going through the fast food windows to pick up dinners for the family
  • Wandering into a 7/Eleven for a Slurpee on a hot day
  • Routinely hitting up Starbucks for milk-shake like coffee concoction
  • NOT scheduling routine exercise time

There are many, many other bullet points that may be added to this list of things to say “GOODBYE” to in order to maximize our health.  Make your own list of the derailing behaviors, situations, foods and drinks that harm your health and then consciously, say and enact “GOODBYE”.

And I was torn between posting David Gate’s theme from “The Goodbye Girl” movie OR an amazing song performed by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli called “Time To Say Goodbye”.  The opera singers won out!
