Have you ever heard the expression “KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID”? The origins of this traces back to 1960 when an aircraft engineer, Kelly Johnson coined the term and basically this refers to the goal of a design is to keep things simple as opposed to complicated. The “KISS” expression has been expanded to multiple areas other than aircraft design. Why the word “STUPID” was added by Mr. Johnson is not clear.
Let’s bring the concept of “KISS” to the weight control arena. When a person decides to go into a weight losing mode, there are many different paths that can be taken. Many of the “diets” and concoctions of supplements/medications make a successful journey more complicated than it needs to be.
From a dietary standpoint it is pretty simple to understand the path needed: Higher intake of protein and vegetables while minimizing carbs/sugars, starches and fruits. Additionally, keeping alcohol minimized/absent will greatly enhance the chances of weight loss success.
If the concept seems simple, why is over 70% of Americans overweight/obese? There are many reasons why this is the case including chemical cravings for derailing foods, lifestyles of dual working parents, enhanced use of processed foods, metabolism slow down with age, etc etc.
Try as best you can to KIS (none of you are stupid so I will leave out the last “S”). Do NOT overthink things. If you need medical help with the cravings/appetite, we certainly can help this. But the dietary approach is simple to understand. Don’t make things complicated!
Well, if I am using the acronym “KISS” how can I not post a song by KISS?
Here is their highest rated song, Beth:
