Playing With Fire

I was watching a movie the other night and one of the characters used the expression: “PLAYING WITH FIRE”.   The idiom “playing with fire” means engaging in risky, dangerous, or potentially harmful behavior. It’s a warning about actions that could get you into deep trouble.

There are a number of arenas of life where “playing with firs” may be a pertinent concept:

  • In marriage if one or both spouses hop on dating or similar internet sites and start engaging in conversation with other people, this may lead to big time marital strife.
  • People that go often to casinos and/or other betting venues are risking significant money loss if their betting gets out of hand.
  • Workers that will often butt heads and mouth off to supervisors risk the loss of their jobs if that behavior continues.

Let’s turn to our eating and drinking behaviors.  Although we may have yet to experience a significant medical issue such as developing diabetes, having a stroke, suffering a heart attack or receiving a cancer diagnosis, NOT making inroads into a weight control issue is “Playing “With Fire” to a great extent.  As every year passes by the chances of developing a dreaded weight-related cp-morbidity(s) increase.  The behaviors may seem innocuous at the early stages but few people are lucky enough to avoid serious medical conditions.

Do NOT “Play With Fire”…Please be focused and vigilant of maintaining your health.

Enjoy Stevie Wonder’s version of “Light My Fire”.
