Is Blood Type Related To Obesity?

Do you know your blood type? Many people do not know the answer to this question.  Obviously, if someone is in need of a blood transfusion, knowing the blood type is imperative, as administering the wrong blood can result in death.

There have been a number of clinical conditions that have been linked to certain blood types.  Today’s question: Does your blood type impact your propensity for weight control problems?

There are a number of conflicting studies that have been reported concerning the connection of blood types to obesity rates.  In general however, it appears that Blood Type O has the highest connection to weight control issues and this is followed by Blood Type AB.

Concerning RH status, once again conflicting studies appear but the majority associate RH Positive with a higher rate of obesity than RH Negative.

If you do not know your blood type, next time your doctor orders routine testing request that the blood typing be performed.

The bottom line concerning blood typing and your difficulty losing weight: This probably cannot attributed (or blamed) on your blood type.

And talking about blood, how about the most famous song from the YoungBLOODS?  Here is an oldie.
