Santa Claus is coming to town

There are many types of lists and clearly, Santa keeps a list too, as chronicled in the famous song “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”.  

Keeping lists can be helpful to your weight control efforts.  In order to ensure that the best meals and snacks are available, generating a shopping list is quite helpful to prevent those derailing food and drink sources from entering your house.  Spontaneous buying at a grocery store will lead to items being purchased that may derail your efforts.

How about generating a list of the restaurants that you frequent and separate that list into “SP-compatible meal” restaurants (American style, steak, seafood) vs. the “Good chance of hurting my weight control efforts” restaurants (All you can eat buffets, Mexican, pasta)?

Perhaps producing a list of people/groups you hang out with and separating those into categories of “healthy conscious/will help my weight loss efforts” vs. the “party people/drinking crowd”.   Then try to associate more with the group/people that will be enablers of your successful weight control as opposed to the enablers of the eating/drinking life-style.

I often suggest to people that they write out a list of the major reasons why losing weight is so important to them.  This can often be referred to when temptation occurs to abandon the efforts to lose weight.

There are many other lists that you can generate that will allow you to be more focused on your weight control efforts.  Take out the old fashion pen and paper and write out these lists.  Doing so may help your weight control efforts in major ways.
