Its (Not) Too Late, You’ve Got A Friend And Locomotion

One we think of “prolific song writers”, names like Smokey Robinson, Elton John, Neil Diamond, Stevie Wonder, Burt Bacharach and several others pop up immediately.  One of the people that wrote a bunch of hit songs spanning the 1960’s-1990’s is Carole King.  She wrote a number of songs that rose to the top 100 (12) and top 10 (4).  Her music was recorded successfully by other artists as well.  Aretha Franklin’s hit song, “(You Make Me Feel) Like a Natural Woman” was written by Ms. King.

Today, I am bringing three songs written by Carole King to the weight control arena:

  1. (I have slightly changed the verbiage on this one)  It’s (NOT) Too Late: Often, people that have struggled with chronic weight control issues get to the point when they feel psychologically the desire to “throw in the towel” and give up their efforts.  They feel it is “too late” to do anything about their weight control.  I am here to tell you that it is NOT “too late” to focus, commit and re-energize your weight control efforts.  We have a number of patients in their late 70s and 80s that do GREAT with our program and are able to shed lots of weight.  This weight loss improves their lives tremendously from a health and self-esteem standpoint.
  1. You’ve Got A Friend:  Support is probably the most important aspect of successful weight control.  This support can come in the form of family members, friends and colleagues that encourage and facilitate your efforts.  We offer FREE body scans to our patients and on a daily basis, you wake up to a missive from good old Dr. Posner trying to engage and encourage you to stay steadfast in your efforts.
  2. Locomotion:  Momentum is very important to achieve during a weight control journey.  There is nothing more frustrating than adhering to a solid plan for several days in the week, going off course the other days and then seeing a “no change” result on the scale at the end of the week.  Get that “locomotion “ rolling and get those first 10 pounds off quickly as this will encourage you to continue your efforts.

And for one more “pertinent” Carole King song:  “I Feel The Earth Move Under My Feet”:  When our patient’s lose lots of weight, they feel a whole lot less “earth moving under their feet”.  Enjoy the songs:
