The Importance Of Developing A Gameplan

We are now in the height of the football seasons with multiple college games on Saturday and a full NFL slate of games on Sunday.  Many games are won (or lost) by the coaches developing the smartest “GAMEPLAN” against their opponents. The coaching staffs spend many hours looking at the tapes of their next foes’ previous games.  They are evaluating the other teams’ strengths/weaknesses and then formulate a GAMEPLAN to put their team and players in the best positions to win the game.  Yes, the players are the ones that actually execute the GAMEPLAN but many times a game is won/lost depending on the strength of the GAMEPLAN.

Off the gridiron and onto the weight loss field:  Do YOU have a GAMEPLAN in place to help you shed the weight and keep that weight off?  If I were to ask you what your plans for breakfast/lunch/dinner are for tomorrow, would you be able to answer this in a definitive manner?  If you were queried as to what days you will exercise next week, would you have defined days/times?  If I asked to see a copy of a shopping list that you brought to the store with you last time you ventured out to a supermarket would this list exist?

The bottom line:  Developing a GAMEPLAN is an essential component to having success in a long-term weight control journey.  Heading into each day/week with no GAMEPLAN will result in spontaneous decision making as to meals/snacks and in most cases, the best choices will not be made.

I recommend that once a week, sit down for 10 minutes and develop a GAMEPLAN for the upcoming week, i.e. planning your shopping, meals, exercise etc.  By doing so, you will markedly enhance your chances of seeing great results on the scale.

One of my favorite football movies:  “Remember The Titans”…and here is a song from the soundtrack.  Enjoy Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”
