Embrace Your Inner ZHUZH

Every morning my e-mail inbox contains a spam-ish e-mail called “Word Of The Day”.  Basically, a word that is seldom, if ever, used in daily speech is presented along with the definition.  This morning the word was “ZHUZH” and I have never, ever used this word nor did I know the definition.  Here is what “ZHUZH means: Make something more stylish, lively, or attractive.

Okay, as this is a blog containing health tips/advice, mostly in the weight control arena, what does “ZHUZH” have to do with dropping weight?  Here goes:

During a long-term weight control journey I have had numerous patients use the word “BORING” when it comes to the necessary protein intake that is needed for weight control.  “Eggs are BORING”, “Chicken is BORING”.  “I am TIRED” of eating meat”.   Statements such as this are quite common.

Well, if you feel this way, now is the time to dig deep and fine your inner “ZHUZH” when it comes to preparing the proteins that will help you shed weight.  As opposed to making 2 (boring) hard boiled eggs for breakfast, how about a creative omelette that has some pretty looking and good tasting vegetables?  Or, how about making an attr5active chicken dish (cordon bleu with low fat cheese) as opposed to a plain chicken breast?  Or, use that slow cooker to make a great tasting beef stew or short rib with very soft, great tasting vegetables.

The point:  Yes, proteins in their basic forms will get boring over time and boredom will lead to straying back to “Carb Land”.   Embrace and channel your inner ZHUZH to create some stylish, lively and attractive protein dishes.  By doing so, you will enhance your chances of successfully controlling weight.

And here is a singer/songwriter that knows how to bring ZHUZH to his performances…
