Is Now The Time To Focus?

I am writing this entry in late September and we already see Halloween decorations and displays at houses and stores.  There are various times of the year when focusing on weight control is difficult, if not impossible such as:

  • Vacations
  • Business trips
  • Stressful home situations
  • Illness

However, the time period from Halloween through New Year is perhaps the most challenging time period of all.  The reasons are obvious:

  • Post-Halloween candy hanging around the house
  • Thanksgiving feasts and leftovers
  • Christmas and New Year social gatherings

The average weight gain per person in the U.S. is 7.4 pounds between Halloween and New Year.  We have one month left until the “festivities” begin.  NOW is the time to place extra, energy and focus on your weight control efforts.  I am not at all suggesting that we all “give up” between October 31 and January 1.  BUT, given the challenging nature of those 60 or so days, we should all be extra-vigilant NOW.

Our goal is to reach a healthier and happier state of existence, being able to enjoy many, many more holiday seasons to come.  Stay focused!

And although several months away, here is a tune to get you into the holiday season…
