What’s In YOUR Freezer?

I haven’t seen those Capital One bank commercials recently that asked the question: “What Is In YOUR Wallet”…with the “What” referring to what credit cards you carry.  Today I am changing that tag line to explore what types of foods are in YOUR freezer out home.

Traversing the freezer aisles of the supermarkets there are LOTS of different food, snacks and desserts that are offered.  These include:

  • Frozen vegetables
  • Microwavable dinners
  • Desserts such as pies and ice cream
  • Breakfast microwavable meals such as sausage and egg biscuits, pancakes, etc.
  • Pizzas

Many other bullet point items may be added to the list of what frozen foods may be purchased at the supermarkets and stored in your freezers at home.

But here is the question to be answered: How many of these freezer-stored foods are “healthy” and compatible with a weight reduction strategy?  The answer is: NOT MANY.  In fact the majority of these freezer-stored foods (with the exception of the meat, poultry and fish that you buy fresh and then freeze) are derailing to weight-control efforts.  This especially holds true for the processed microwavable dinners that are sold to make our food preparation time limited.

The point of today’s entry: Take stock of YOUR freezer section at home and make a conscious effort to NOT have those derailing foods and desserts that will harm your weight control efforts.  Keep that freezer stocked with plenty of good proteins and vegetables.

The actress seen in the Capital One commercials: Jennifer Garner.  One of her most famous movies: “Catch Me If You Can” with Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio.  And here is a song from the movie….an oldie for sure! “ The Girl From Ipanema”.
