With A Little Help From My Friends

For those of you out there that were alive to see The Beatles’ first performance on the Ed Sullivan show, here is something that will make all of us feel quite old:  The “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album came out almost SIXTY years ago.  In 1967 The Beatles released this album and one of the songs on the record was “With A Little Help From My Friends”.

Taking this concept to the weight control arena:  Your “friends” can play a pivotal role in the success vs failure of your long-term weight control efforts.  Your TRUE friends will:

  • Support you during your weight control journey
  • Will offer to walk, run, bike, go to the gym with you
  • Not coax you into drinking alcohol or eating desserts when you go out with them for a meal
  • Prepare a weight-control compatible meal for you when hosting a dinner party
  • Not be jealous of your success in shedding weight
  • Plan mutual vacation spots that offer lots of health, wellness and relaxation as opposed to eating/drinking fests (all inclusives, cruise ships, etc)

Many more bullet points may be added to this list.  Conversely, “friends” that are not really your TRUE friends will attempt to derail your weight control efforts.  Often, this is because they have weight control problems of their own and your success highlights their failure.

So, always seek a little (or LOTS) of help from your friends in your weight control journey.  By doing so, you will enhance your chances of success in becoming healthier and happier.

And, did you expect a different song to be posted?  Here is a fun version years later with Sir Paul and Ringo.
