Buy The Halloween Candy What You Do NOT Like

I am writing this entry about a week before Halloween.  My message may be a bit late as most of you have probably already prepared for those children ringing your doorbells on October 31, but here goes:

One of the more derailing weight control times of the year is Halloween.  The reason: Most of us (including me) OVER buy candy, as it would be considered sacrilegious to run out of candy on that special night.  Often we buy these mega bags of mixed candies.  And, just as often, we find ourselves with a bunch of leftover candies that remain in the bag well past October 31.

I don’t know about you, but I find myself buying the candies that I sort of like, figuring that if I like them, the kids must like them equally.  My favorite? Three Musketeers, Milky Ways and Butter Crunch.  I usually chose those mega bags that contain a sampling containing lots of those aforementioned favorites of mine.

The problem: When Halloween comes and goes there remains LOTS of those favorite candies in my pantry.  And, lo and behold, every night subsequently I find myself drifting into that pantry and opening up several of my favorites.  This appears sort of harmless as they are the small ones, BUT, in the aggregate, these can very much harm weight control efforts.  I am not a big fan of M&Ms or Peanut butter cups so if these were in my pantry as leftovers, there would be less chance of me reaching for these.

So, if you have not already purchased the Halloween candy you intend to distribute on October 31, make sure to buy the stuff you do NOT like yourself.  By doing so, you will lessen the chances of beginning the most treacherous time of the year for weight control (Halloween through New Years) in a derailing manner.

And how can I post a Halloween entry without posting “Thriller”?
